Our favourite London rooftops

When it’s pushing 30 degrees in London, the last place you want to be at 6pm is on a sweaty train or tube. As we all know, heatwaves in the capital are few and far between, so we’ve rounded up a list of our favourite rooftop bars and restaurants to ensure you make the most of the sunshine.

Coq d’Argent’s terrace garden is the by far the greenest rooftop bar and restaurant you’ll find in The City of London, covered in grass areas and hedges offering plenty of space to sit or stand. The terrace menu features an impressive selection of cocktails, wines, spirits and bar snacks so that everybody in your group is catered for. (1 Poultry, London EC2R 8EJ)

Aqua sits just behind Oxford Circus and is a couple of tube stops from our Lion Court offices in Holborn. This stunning bar and restaurant provides a sophisticated shelter from the hustle and bustle of Soho. The selection of cocktails and sushi is second to none, hence being our go-to in the area. One to note: no trainers or sports shoes allowed. (240 Regent St, Soho, London W1B 3BR)

Aviary is an elegant rooftop bar and restaurant located in Finsbury Square with live DJs every Thursday and Friday. This uber-classy venue is a great all-rounder, meaning it’s perfect for dinner and drinks with friends or colleagues, or entertaining clients. We’re big fans of their Chateaubriand and key lime tart… (Montcalm Royal London House, 22-25 Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1DX)

Boundary rooftop serves pitchers of Aperol spritz in a stylish Shoreditch setting with spectacular 360° views. If it’s dinner you’re after, during the summer months you can enjoy a taste of the Mediterranean with their offering of grilled fish and meat, alongside fresh salads on the menu. What more could you want? (2-4 Boundary Street, Shoreditch, London E2 7dd)

The Golden Bee, situated a couple of minutes from Old Street roundabout, underwent a refurb last year and now looks as though it could be a beach club in Ibiza, with palm trees and rattan furniture as well as live DJs playing. From Tuesday-Thursday you can enjoy two-for-one on selected cocktails between 5-7pm, perfect for a “quick one” after work. (Singer St, London EC1V 9DD)

Madison Terrace Bar is where you’ll feel most at home in a suit as it attracts the City workers of St Paul’s and surrounding areas coming straight from the office. Situated in the Penthouse of One New Change, Madison claims to offer “a slice of modern Manhattan in London”. Our personal favourite from their lively cocktail menu is the Rogroni, because of its refreshing orange flavour. (Rooftop Terrace One, New Change, London EC4M 9AF)

Sushisamba is just across the road from Liverpool Street, luckily for our New Broad Street clients, and is home to creative cocktails and superb sushi (as you’d expect from the name). Also, if you’re into your sake, you’ll be impressed with the wide selection on offer here. (Heron Tower, 110 Bishopsgate, London EC2N 4AY)

Culpeper Roof Garden, also known as ‘Piculpeper’ because of its pickle-themed décor and cucumbers growing on the roof, is located a short walk from our One Aldgate serviced offices. We’d recommend this for its great views of The City and even better Instagram opportunities. (40 Commercial St, London E1 6LP)
